Frequently Asked Questions
What is so special about Spectracorder?
Spectracorder delivers a unique combination between high performance and ease of use. Our users love it.
What are the components of Spectracorder?
The Spectracorder systems consists of one control unit and as many measurement units as you may need conveniently connected via Ethernet LAN or through internet.
Do I need to buy optional modules to reach the 0.3 – 18 GHz?
No. Spectracorder delivers the entire range out of the box.
Can Spectracorder do direction finding?
Yes. There is a dedicated module of Spectracorder configured as a high accuracy direction finder. The central frequency of the DF module can be selected within the monitoring range of 0.3 – 18 GHz with a bandwidth of 1.5 GHz.
What does 8 x 1.5 GHz instantaneous bandwidth mean?
Spectracorder has 8 channels each taking snapshots of the spectrum at 1.5 GHz instantaneous bandwidth. Each can be independently tuned to the desired frequency bands, and visualized and recorded simultaneously.
Why is 1.5 GHz instantaneous bandwidth important?
With 1.5 GHz instantaneous bandwidth nothing will go unadverted, unlike with traditional band scanning equipment at bandwidths of few MHz.
What is the shortest pulse Spectracorder can detect?
Spectracorder can detect pulses as short as 1 ns.
What does 1000 fps mean?
This is our analogy and tribute to the good old movie cameras filming at 24 frames per second. Spectracorder monitors the spectrum continuously and generates 1000 “frames” per second of integrated power per second, or reversely, it records at 1 ms time resolution.
Can Spectracorder be networked?
Definitely yes, and we recommend doing it to extract all the potential. Spectracorder is designed to operate both as a standalone unit, or as a network of units. Just connect each unit to the internet and go.
Can Spectracorder be accessed remotely?
Yes. You only need a VPN to connect to your monitoring system from the web browser of your device, be it your smartphone or tablet when you are away from the office, or your computer.
Do I need to install any software to use Spectracorder?
No. The user application is served by the Spectracorder control unit to your web browser.
Where is Spectracorder made?
Spectracorder is made in Switzerland by Orbitare.
